BuddyPress was abandoned and is not installed on the latest (2018) InsideLaw

Some useful history of how the system was put together - and notes about gathered information

Attachments to courses

We use BuddyPress Docs plugin to add attachments to group/course web pages. The menu item was renamed to "Files/Notes/Docs" to signify the multiple uses of this system. Commenting needs to be manually re-enabled on a page-by-page basis (admin dashboard, "BuddyPress Docs" and edit the doc to allow comments) <= automated method on the To Do list.

Faculty Support

BuddyPress does not properly support regular WP roles, so allowing faculty support to post to course web pages is bit quirky at best.  There is currently a "Faculty Support" role that does give some access to class webcourses page (groups). They can view the students and (!) changes some course settings. The "docs" link does not show and they cannot post directly to groups, but can post a doc to their own page and then select the "group/class" to attach the doc to.

Multiple Course Files/Notes/Docs

To show BuddyPres Docs on multiple courses, go to admin dashboard, "BuddyPress Docs" and edit the doc to share. In the "Associated Items" meta box, select all the related courses. Note that editing the doc later may be a bit funky... Also need to test that it is protected (as needed) and also note that it most likely will not show up as normal in the activity stream.
