The Georgia Advocacy Office is the designated Protection and Advocacy System for the State of Georgia. As the P & A, GAO works on behalf of and beside people who experience disabilities. Student Externs will be exposed to a multitude of practice areas which could include class action and other systemic litigation, representation of individuals in administrative hearings and probate court.
Each student’s experience could be enriched by participating in monitoring of state and private institutions and direct resource advocacy. GAO intends for the externship experience to be rich with individualized opportunities for experiential learning and partnership with seasoned lawyers and advocates.
