This Week’s Health Challenge No. 3: Take pictures that show the place where you and your friends or family love to go to unwind, which doesn’t need drugs or alcohol to enjoy. Send your photos all week until 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, to pparsons@sgsu.edu for posting on the Law Liibrary’s video screen. Sponsored by the Criminal Law Society. Winner announced on Friday and receives a $25 VISA gift certificate.
Wellness Wednesday at noon Feb. 7 in Room 342: Sometimes it can be easy to miss the warning signs of habits and behaviors that can lead to the abuse of alcohol and drugs. Learn to recognize red flags that can signal someone’s potential for substance abuse and downward spiral into mental health problems. Two Georgia State Law graduates share their experiences struggling with these challenges. Hear about the resources that are available to help and support you and those you care about.
New! Take 20 Tuesday: A Mindful Pause for Getting and Staying Balanced
Professor Charity Scott is offering every Tuesday at noon and 5:15 p.m. an informal weekly session consisting of a 10-minute guided mindfulness meditation followed by a 10-minute debrief/discussion (on any topic students wish related to wellness or mindfulness). It’s an informal opportunity to de-stress and recharge in 20 minutes. No experience with mindfulness is necessary: everyone is welcome to attend these drop-in sessions as schedules permit. Tuesday at noon in Room 538 (starting Tuesday, Feb. 13) and at 5:15 p.m. in Room 345.
