The Law Library has always been an earlier adopter and champion of technology at the College of Law. Ever since the days of the dedicated catalog, Westlaw, and Lexis terminals, the Law Library has provided technology and research assistance to the College of Law community.

With some interesting recent additions to the Law Library, I thought it might be worth pointing out what technologies are available to students for  check out.

  1. Network cables for your laptops just in case you forgot yours. I do not recommend relying on checking one out during exams as there's usually a run on them.
  2. Remote controls and cables to connect laptops to and operate the short-throw projectors in the study rooms. Most of the study rooms offer a  projector to which you can connect your laptop via a wall-plate in the room.  Whether you are working collaboratively with your study group or taking a break and watching Netflix, the projector will display your laptop screen large enough that everyone can view it.
  3. Flip video cameras. Although discontinued (which I am still bitter about), these clever little devices take the frustration out of video recording. Each includes a tripod so you can record your law school podcast without assistance.
  4. Headphones. You are not going to be impressing anyone walking down the street wearing these library-issue headphones; nonetheless, they work and are available.
  5. An old school cassette player/recorder. If you do not know what a cassette tape is,  you are not getting the uber-cool mix tape I made for you.
  6. Portable CD player.
  7. Typewriter. Believe it or not there are still times when a form requires that you use a typewriter to fill it in. Just know the library has a typewriter and closet full of ribbon whenever you come across that form.  Also, you may want to ask if you can check out a study room when you use the typewriter as it is very loud and probably scare the people around you.
  8. (Coming soon) Mac and universal power adapters  (just in case you forgot yours).
  9. Star Wars DVDs.

All of these items are available at the circulation desk and check out for varying amount of time.
