August 25, 2011 - General, Updates and Upgrades

You may have noticed that the Law Library Student Instructional Lab (more commonly known as the back of the lab) was recently outfitted with sixteen new PC workstations.
This upgrade was funded in part by the Student Technology Fee. College of Law Facilities (more commonly known as Ken Walsh) took advantage of this upgrade to also replace out the old computer desks that were designed to support CRT monitors as well as maximize the number of workstations that could be fit in confined space. In their place new computer desks were installed that offer considerably more space for users to spread out and work. Try out the new desks and PCs and let us know what you think.

The Law Library Student Instructional Lab is only the first of several upgrades to student computing resources that is being funded by a Student Technology Fee award. The College of Law also received funding to replace outdated student workstations throughout the College of Law including those in clinics, student organizations, the Career Services Office, Law Library, and the front of the Lab. During the fall semester College of Law IT will be upgrading these workstations. A schedule and status updates will be posted to the College of Law IT initiatives page shortly.

As we work on this year's Student Technology Fee awards, College of Law IT is looking for student involvement in next year's proposal process. If you have ideas how technology could improve the College of Law and students' educational experience, email your suggestions to Terrance Manion. Later in the semester College of Law IT will be hosting student forums on the Student Technology Fee and those will be posted in the College of Law eNews.

Welcome back.
