When setting up forwarding for your PantherMail account, make sure to choose Redirectrather than Forward.

We've been getting a lot of questions about setting up forwarding on your PantherMail account.  First, when you log in to set up forwarding, you must use Internet Explorer 7 to see the Options button.  If you log in with Firefox, you will not see the Options button.  Once you've logged in with Internet Explorer, you will be able to proceed with setting up the forwarding option.

Forwarding vs. Redirecting
When you set up forwarding, if you choose the "forward" option, your new e-mail account will forward your PantherMail, but the From field in the e-mails you receive at the other e-mail account will display your student e-mail address.  This makes extra steps for you when you want to reply to e-mails from your class mailing lists.

Instead, choose "redirect" when setting up forwarding on your PantherMail account.  The From field in the e-mails you receive will display the correct e-mail address.

  1. Log in to PantherMail using Internet Explorer 7.
  2. Click on Inbox.
  3. Click Options (at the top of the screen in the horizontal menu with the PantherMail logo).
  4. Click Organize.
  5. Click Inbox Rules.
  6. Click New Rule.
  7. Create a New Rule for Arriving Messages.
  8. A new Rule Description panel will open.
  9. Click Forward or redirect.
  10. Choose Redirect the Message to people or distribution lists.
  11. In the left panel, click people or distribution lists and an Address Book panel will open.
  12. At the bottom, in the To field, type the address you wish to have your mail redirected to.
  13. Click OK.
  14. Click Save.
