June 29, 2011 - Alerts, Software, Tips, Updates and Upgrades

On July 5, the University will complete a switch from Novell Groupwise to Microsoft Office 365. This change will only affect faculty and staff.
Alert: New System. Learn more about Office 365 at gsu.edu/ist/emailAs you may have heard, University IS&T has been working with the Colleges to switch from Novell GroupWise to Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook). You should find that Outlook is an improvement over Groupwise, based on its integration with Microsoft Office, robust mobile access and more effective functionality in address book and calendaring tools. Learn more about Outlook.

A very useful website about the change is available at gsu.edu/ist/email. It contains FAQs about the change, as well as tutorials on how to use the new Outlook.

The Switch
The change will occur over the July 4th holiday break, which may cause GroupWise outages during that time. Please read IS&T's How to Prepare document and attempt to send all important messages by Friday July 1. The new system will be in place by 8:30 AM on Tuesday, July 5.

The majority of your Groupwise content will have moved into Outlook. For more information, view IS&T's full list of What Won't Migrate and How to Prepare.

As always, if you have trouble with your email on July 5, please contact the HelpDesk at 3-9119 or at law.gsu.edu/helpdesk.

University IS&T will answer questions submitted via their FAQ page before and after the change as well.

Please note that this is a large project for the College that may require significant HelpDesk resources. Law Tech Services will make every effort to respond to your request in a timely manner.
