U.S. News Releases Rankings

Georgia State University College of Law's part-time program continues to be among the nation's best at No. 14, according to the 2015 U.S. News & World Report's annual rankings of graduate schools. The college itself remains ranked in the top third of the nation's 194 schools at 64, down from 54. Last year, the part-time program was ranked No. 16.

The college's health law program continues to be among the nation's top 10 programs, at No. 8, down from No. 3 last year. The college also was included among the nation's most diverse law schools in U.S. News's annual Best Graduate School report.

"The rankings tell us what we already know — Georgia State Law belongs among the top third of law schools in the United States with top-ranked part-time and health law programs," says Steven J. Kaminshine, dean and professor of law. "Georgia State Law continues to focus on its strengths of educating practice-ready lawyers while remaining affordable and accessible."

The college's ranking of 64 exists among a tight cohort of 13 schools tied at 54, 58, 61 and 64, underscoring the ranking compression and volatility from 50 to 70, Kaminshine says. While all other data remained constant, Georgia State Law's 2013 placement rate at graduation was modestly lower than in 2012 and its student-faculty ratio increased slightly.

U.S. News bases law school rankings on 11 factors in addition to the job placement data: peer assessments from law school deans, as well as from lawyers and judges; median LSAT scores and undergraduate GPA of students entering in fall 2013; selectivity; bar passage rates; student-faculty ratio; library resources; financial aid; and faculty resources. U.S. News evaluates 194 schools.
