Welcome: Kristina Niedringhaus
Kristina Niedringhaus joins Georgia State University College of Law as associate dean for library and information services and associate professor of law.
Niedringhaus most recently served as law library director and associate professor at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University. Previously, she served as an associate librarian for Georgia State Law in the early 2000s.
Niedringhaus accepted the position after Nancy Johnson (J.D. '86), professor emeritus, retired. Having worked with Niedringhaus when she was previously at Georgia State Law, Johnson knows that the law library is in capable hands.
"Before I left Georgia State Law, faculty asked me how the library would carry on," Johnson says. "With Kris as the director, the library programs will develop, expand, and become even better. She will add new perspectives and innovative ideas that will make our library even better."
Niedringhaus brings a wealth of library management, information systems and teaching experience to her role overseeing the law library.
"Returning to Georgia State Law feels a little like returning home," she Niedringhaus says. "I am excited by the energy and innovative spirit of the Georgia State Law community."
Niedringhaus brings a wealth of library management, information systems and teaching experience to her role overseeing the law library.
"Georgia State Law has an outstanding law library and a fantastic staff. I believe that the core of a library is the staff members—they have the skills and expertise to sort through the overwhelming amount of available information and the ability to find the information that is not readily accessible," she says.
Niedringhaus also looks forward to organizing the law library in its new building.
"The space around us impacts how we work and study and the new building encourages us to think creatively and develop new opportunities to interact as a community," she says.
"We are thrilled to have Kris rejoin our team. She was a tremendous asset to us before, and I know that the law library will continue to thrive under her direction," says Steven J. Kaminshine, dean and professor of law.
Niedringhaus is an active member of the American Association for Law Libraries, vice chair/chair elect of the Society of Academic Law Library Directors and a member of The Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction Board of Directors. She will teach Advanced Legal Research in the fall.
