Law Week 2013

Attorney Michael Manely (J.D. '89) kicks off the 2013 Law Week at Georgia State University College of Law on Monday, April 1. Manely will discuss his experiences arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court in Chafin v. Chafin. The Court ruled unanimously in his client's favor.

The Student Bar Association and student organizations hold events through Law Week, an annual tradition, to educate, entertain and engage classmates. It is an extension of Law Day, a "day of national dedication to the principle of government under law," that was established in 1958 by President Dwight Eisenhower. Georgia State Law will celebrate April 1-5.

Manely has devoted his practice to finding effective legal resolutions in local and international family law cases. He founded the Manely Firm in 1989, which has grown to include nearly 20 associates and staff who work with clients in five languages.

After the keynote event and throughout the week, SBA-funded organizations will offer informational breakfasts and coffees gatherings, along with lunch and dinner presentations on topics varying from research tips for solo practitioners to the court system in Japan.
