Georgia State Law Now 54 in U.S. News Rankings
Georgia State University College of Law moved up four spots to 54 in U.S. News & World Report's 2014 rankings for Best Graduate Schools. Last year, the college was ranked No. 58.
"All law schools are working to retool legal education in challenging times," said Steven J. Kaminshine, dean and professor of law. "Georgia State Law continues to focus on its strengths of educating practice-ready lawyers while remaining affordable and accessible, which has helped our rankings each year."
In addition to moving up four spots overall, the college's part-time program was ranked No. 16, moving up 13 spots from No. 29. The college's Center for Law, Health and Society was ranked again among the top 5 health law programs at No. 3. This is the seventh year the center has been ranked among the top 10.
This year, U.S. News paid particular attention to job placement data at graduation and nine months out with its methodology, which was a category in which Georgia State Law fared well.
U.S. News bases law school rankings on 11 factors in addition to the job placement data: peer assessments from law school deans, as well as from lawyers and judges; median LSAT scores and undergraduate GPA of students entering in fall 2012; selectivity; bar passage rates; student-faculty ratio; library resources; financial aid; and faculty resources. One hundred ninety-four programs were evaluated.
