Christian Sotomayor, 2L, gets in the game to support Relay for LifeATLANTA - On Saturday, March 31, over 30 law students came together to participate in the Black Law Students Association's (BLSA) Relay for Life Dodgeball Tournament to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. After a series of intense, double-elimination rounds, the Law Ballers was the last team standing.

Relay for Life is an opportunity not only to raise funds for cancer research, but also to remember victims of cancer, honor survivors, and increase awareness.  “This Dodgeball Tournament raised over $100 for BLSA and the Student Health Law Association's (SHLA) Relay for Life Team,” said team captain Leanna Jordan, 3L. “We are halfway to our $1500 goal!”  L to R: Michelle Williams, 2L, Yvonne McDowell, 2L, and Dmetria "Taye" Gibson, 2L track progress on donations

To show support for the BLSA and SHLA Relay for Life Team, law students are encouraged to wear purple on Monday, April 9.

Georgia State University will be hosting its main Relay for Life event on Friday, April 13, at 6:00 pm at the GSU Sports Arena. As the event rapidly approaches, SHLA and BLSA will continue to collect donations in an effort to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
