The first week of April has arrived, and with it comes Law Week 2012. This special week of student-organized events and programming will jump-start during Monday's keynote, featuring Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens. The event will be heldĀ in Room 170, at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 2.
Olens was sworn in as Attorney General in 2011, and has served previously as Chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, Cobb County District 3 Commissioner, and Chairman of the Atlanta Regional Commission. He has also served on various committees and non-profit boards of directors, including United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta. Georgia Trend magazine has included Olens on its "100 Most Influential Georgians" list for six years running.
A short Q&A will follow Attorney General Olens' presentation.
Law Week has been celebrated at Georgia State since the 1990s, and provides SBA-funded student organizations an opportunity to host educational, entertaining events to our student body. President Eisenhower established Law Day in 1958 as a "day of national dedication to the principle of government under law," and it has been commemorated annually since that time. Bar associations, courts, schools and civic groups and other organizations celebrate Law Day and Law Week programs across the country.
