GSU Law continues to climb in rankings
March 13, 2012
ATLANTA—The Georgia State University College of Law continues its climb in the U.S. News & World Report rankings, coming in at No. 58 out of 195 law schools ranked in "America's Best Graduate Schools 2013." Last year, the College of Law was listed at No. 61.
The College of Law's highly regarded Center for Law, Health & Society was recognized as second best in the nation, up from No. 5 last year. This is the sixth consecutive year that it has been named one of the top 10 healthcare law programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
"We're honored by the ranking, which hopefully reflects our peers' confidence in our superb faculty, students and staff," said Charity Scott, director of the Center for Law, Health & Society. "The University's strong support through the Second Century Initiative for new faculty hiring has been invaluable to the health law program."
The GSU College of Law, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, has steadily advanced in the U.S. News & World Report rankings. Over the past five years, the College of Law has surged 24 spots, up from No. 82 in 2008. Last fall, Georgia State Law was ranked the no. 1 best value in the country for the second year in a row by preLaw magazine, a National Jurist publication.
"We are very proud of our students, our alumni, our faculty and our staff, all of whom combine to make this an excellent institution," Dean Steven J. Kaminshine said. "We’re pleased that the rankings have managed to capture our upward trajectory, both in terms of the law school as a whole and the significant recognition accorded our health law program."
