How the Atlanta housing market will change forever

ATLANTA – Dr. Chris Nelson, a nationally known expert in metropolitan growth and urban planning, will present “This is Not Your Parents' Housing Market: How Demographic, Economic, Financial, and Preference Drivers Will Change Atlanta's Housing Market Forever,” at noon Tuesday, March 13, at the Georgia State University College of Law.
Dr. Nelson will present the results of a housing model that he created for metropolitan Atlanta that predicts that practically all of the demand for homes between 2010 and 2030 will be for downsizing, apartments, starter homes, and assisted/nursing/multi-generational housing options.
The lunchtime event is presented by the Center for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth. The event will be held on in Room 230 of the Urban Life Building, 140 Decatur Street in Downtown Atlanta. Lunch will be served. A reception with Dr. Nelson will follow in the 4th Floor Faculty Library from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Dr. Nelson is the Presidential Professor of City and Metropolitan Planning and Director of the Metropolitan Research Center at the University of Utah. He has conducted pioneering research in growth management, public facility finance, economic development, and metropolitan development patterns. He is the author of more than twenty books and three hundred other professional and scholarly works.
