ATLANTA - The Student Health Law Association (SHLA) hosted its first mixer of the year on September 22 at Tin Lizzy’s in Midtown, allowing Georgia State students to meet and mingle with other health law students from Emory and John Marshall. The mixer proved to be a fun, laidback networking event for all attendees.
"I especially appreciated the opportunity to get candid advice from 2Ls and 3Ls on structuring my courses toward a health law focus," said Gregory Fosheim, a SHLA member. "Hopefully future gatherings will not be in the midst of a rainstorm, and we’re able to reach out to more students from other campuses. I’m very curious to see how other health law programs operate and what collaborations may result."
Despite poor weather and busy school schedules, SHLA was pleased to see a diverse turn out in attendees, ranging from Georgia State 1L’s to Emory 3L’s. Students were able to discuss their various interests and experiences with each other while enjoying the non-traditional spread of fried pickles and cheese quesadillas. Conversations ranged from job-hunting and study techniques to ideas for increasing the inter-scholastic nature of health law.
"The mixer was a great networking opportunity for me," said Pari Fakhrzadeh, a Georgia State law student. "It was a really fun way to get to know other SHLA members and to learn more about Georgia State’s health law program. I would definitely recommend that my classmates attend these events in the future."
