College to host Supreme Court of Georgia

ATLANTA – Georgia State University College of Law will host the Supreme Court of Georgia on Monday, March 21, at the Georgia State University Student Center Ballroom. The Court will begin the day with a law alumni swearing-in ceremony to the Supreme Court of Georgia Bar and then conduct its oral arguments.
Alumni attendees, whether attending the arguments, swearing-in ceremony or both, are encouraged to arrive at the Student Center Ballroom no later than 10 a.m.
Court will be in session at 10:30 a.m. Following welcomes from College of Law Dean Steven J. Kaminshine and Chief Justice Carol W. Hunstein, the admissions ceremony for alumni will begin.
Oral arguments are expected to begin at 10:50 a.m. with Stripling v. The State, a death penalty interim review, followed by Haley v. The State, an Internet hoax case. Court will be dismissed at approximately 12:15 p.m. Cases for the Supreme Court of Georgia sitting are available online on the Georgia State Law website.
This event is free and open to the public. Business attire is required. Once court is in session, the doors will be closed and no one will be permitted to leave until there is a short break between cases or court is dismissed.
