Georgia State welcomes Dr. Moreira, an internationally-known political economist, who has taught at leading universities in the US and Latin America and actively works for political, social and economic change with non-governmental groups throughout the Americas.

Viva Rio is a leading human rights organization that has been fighting for over a decade to end public violence in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Dr. Moreira will describe Viva Rio's remarkable growth and explain its successful, innovative, grass roots interventions efforts to combat urban violence --- efforts that continue to receive worldwide interest and acclaim.
