University Offers Free E-Training Services
September 16, 2004
Welcome to eTraining brought to you by GSU's University Educational Technology Services (UETS), powered by ElementK.
What is eTraining? eTraining is also referred to as web-based training, or just-in-time training. It consists of modularized training courses, available over the web, anytime of the day or night, anywhere you have an Internet connection! Since it is funded by the Student Technology Fee it is FREE (for personal use only, one account per person) to Georgia State students who are eligible to register and Georgia State faculty and staff.
"Knowledge ... picks up where your natural charisma leaves off". Join us in expanding your knowledge with courses in Microsoft Office 2000 or XP; FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks; A+, Network+; Novell, Cisco and Microsoft certification plus much more. Some courses come with Pre-assessments to test your knowledge. Please join us in this exciting new program.
To create your eTraining account, go to www.gsu.edu/etraining and click on the First Time User link. Enter the enrollment key which was sent to your GSU Student E-Mail Account or your Faculty/Staff Groupwise Account. Then press Send.
On the next page, fill out your "Personal Information" form, creating a username and password that you would like to use for future visits. We recommend Staff and Faculty use their GroupWise id (ex. istelg) or use a name and password that can be easily remembered. We recommend that students use their Georgia State student email id and seed(initial) password. When asked to enter your PantherCard 16 number, use the 16-digit number on your panther id (begins with 601708...) This enrollment process will only be required once.
After creating your account, go to www.gsu.edu/etraining, enter your Username and Password and click the Login button. You will return to Element K and be able to continue your journey into eTraining.
Once logged on, you will be taken to your "My Courses" page. It is recommended that you begin by selecting the "Course Catalog" to view, then select one or more topics to add to your "My Current Courses". If you are interested in Certification Tracks, choose the "Learning Advisor". Additional navigation tools include a "Store" where you may purchase technical books related to a topic, a "Student Union" where you can participate in community forums and message boards, a "Resource Center" where you can review Tips from Element K Journals, and "Student Services" where you can request a new password, among other services.
If you have a problem using the Element K site, or an Element K course, go to their "Contact Us" page, use "Live Chat", or call technical support at 1-800-250-5013, all located at http://learn.elementk.com/ContactUs/contact.asp.
If you have difficulty creating an account, email etraining@gsu.edu. Include your full name, status (student, staff, or faculty) and PantherCard ID.
We hope you enjoy your experience with eTraining and will take a couple of minutes to complete the Feedback Form located at www.gsu.edu/etraining/feedback.html.
