Georgia State University College of Law 2005 Moot Court Champions
April 5, 2005
The Georgia State University College of Law Moot Court took home the State Championship in the 2005 Intrastate Moot Court Competition. This year the competition was held at Emory University on Saturday, April 2, 2005. The competition was attended by two teams from Emory University, the University of Georgia, Mercer University, and Georgia State University.
The competition consisted of four preliminary rounds, with four teams advancing to the semi-finals and the winner of each semi-final participating in the final round. This year semi-finalists included both teams from the University of Georgia, a team from Mercer University, and the GSU team that eventually won the competition.
In the semi-finals, GSU faced a tough UGA team which eventually won honors for both Best Brief and Best Oralist. After edging this UGA team, GSU faced Mercer University in the finals. Fielding tough questions from a bench led by the Honorable J.D. Smith of the Georgia Court of Appeals, both teams made excellent arguments. Upon deliberation and a final tally of the scores of the six judges, the judges determined that Georgia State had prevailed.
The winning team consists of second-year law students Blake Eno, Stephen Graham, and Debra Hunter. The team was coached by Brandee Kowalzyk and Adwoa Ghartey-Tagoe. Congratulations to the 2005 Intrastate Champions!
