Fulton County Daily Report Publishes Third Intellectual Property Roundtable
March 11, 2005
On February 28th, The Fulton County Daily Report, Atlanta's premier legal newspaper, and part of the American Lawyer family of papers, published another Intellectual Property Roundtable, Unresolved Ownership Issues in Copyright Law, the third in a series of IP articles featuring Professor Michael Landau as moderator and commentator. A little over a year ago, The Fulton County Daily Report asked Professor Landau participate in a series of Intellectual Property Roundtables, by helping to choose a "hot topic" in IP law for discussion, recommending prominent and well-respected Atlanta Intellectual Property attorneys for each roundtable, and being the moderator of each session.
In, Unresolved Ownership Issues in Copyright Law, Professor Landau, along with James Trigg, from Kilpatrick Stockton, Larry Nodine from Needle & Rosenberg, John Renaud from Turner Entertainment, and Dave Stewart from Alston & Bird, discussed different interpretations by the courts of "works made for hire," "joint works," and "terminations." Earlier "IP Roundtables" dealt with peer-to-peer music file sharing, The Battle to End Free Music, (OCTOBER 18, 2004) and "keyword" internet advertising, Trademark Tensions: Where To Draw The Line On Whether Pop-Up Advertisements Are Actionable -- Or Just Annoying, (February 16, 2004). Other IP attorneys who participated in the earlier roundtables are Joe Beck (Kilpatrick Stockton), Greg Kirsch (Needle & Rosenberg), Joan Dillon (Joan Dillon Law), Michael Hobbs (Troutman Sanders), and GSU IP Alumni and adjunct professors, Doug Isenberg (Needle & Rosenberg) who is also the publisher of Gigalaw.com, and Jeff Kuester (Thomas, Kayden, Hostemeyer and Risley).
