Professor Landau Awarded Fulbright Grant

Professor Michael Landau, the Director of the Intellectual Property, Technology, and Media Law Program at the College of Law was just informed by the U.S. State Department that he has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar. Professor Landau will be spending the Fall Semester at the Intellectual Property Rights University Center in Helsinki Finland.
The Intellectual Property Rights University Center, located at the University of Helsinki, is run jointly by five Finnish universities: the University of Helsinki, the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration, the Helsinki School of Economics, the University of Turku, and Helsinki University of Technology. While at the IPR Professor Landau will be conducting research on International Intellectual Property issues, and leading seminars for and supervising postgraduate law students.
Over the past several years, Professor Landau has been increasingly involved in International Intellectual Property issues. He has been a guest lecturer, or has delivered papers at conferences at many European Universities, including the Universities of London, Greenwich, Durham, Sheffield, and Edinburgh, Maastricht. He has been a Visiting Professor of Law at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz in Austria, Warsaw University, and the University of Amsterdam.
Professor Landau’s publications are also widely recognized on the international level. His discussion of the U.S. Supreme Court’s seminal case on “electronic publication rights,” New York Times v. Tasini, has been cited, reproduced, or hyperlinked on over 700 Internet websites in countries all over the world, including Japan, China, Italy, Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England, Ireland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Canada, and Turkey. His article about motion picture credit and attribution, Copyrights, Moral Rights, and the End of the Right of Attribution Rights Under U. S. Trademark Law, will appear later this month in THE INTERNATIONAL REVIEW OF LAW, COMPUTERS & TECHNOLOGY, a British peer-reviewed journal.
