HeLP Clinic Information Session February 16
January 27, 2010
The HeLP Legal Services Clinic is accepting applications for Fall 2010 enrollment and will be hosting an informal information session at noon on Tuesday, February 16, in room 652 of the Urban Life Building. All students who are interested in learning more about the clinic are invited to attend.
The Health Law Partnership (HeLP) is a collaboration between the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Inc. and Georgia State University College of Law. The project includes offices at three of Children's hospitals and the law school's on-site clinic, located on the sixth floor of the Urban Life Building. HeLP focuses on providing legal assistance to low-income children and their families.
The HeLP Legal Services Clinic is a 3-hour graded course in which students work with low-income clients and learn lawyering skills. The HeLP Clinic is part of an interdisciplinary community collaboration. Clinic students will work collaboratively with residents and medical students from Morehouse School of Medicine and Emory University School of Medicine.
Students in the clinic gain practical experience while learning a variety of key legal skills, from interviewing and counseling clients to working knowledge of the Social Security Administration.
The HeLP clinic is directed by Professors Sylvia Caley and Lisa Bliss. To apply for the clinic please send a resume and cover letter addressed to Professors Caley and Bliss to helpclinicgsu@gmail.com by noon on February 22. Interviews will be held by invitation only March 1 or 2.
