With U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. presiding, GSU law students win national title in moot court competition

ATLANTA—Georgia State University College of Law captured the national title in the 25th Annual Dean Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition, held at the Brooklyn Law School in New York earlier this month.
Kevin Bradberry and Matthew Ramsey, both third year College of Law students, argued before Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., among the judges in the final round of the competition, beating out Santa Clara Law School.
In all, they beat more than 36 competitors, including William & Mary and The University of Georgia.
"Kevin and Matt were absolutely brilliant," said Casey Viggiano, a second year College of Law student who acted as a coach to the team with Shane Peagler, a third year student.
"While they argued deftly at every level of the competition, watching how poised they were in the final round before Justice Alito was truly awe-inspiring," Viggiano added. "I was so proud of how they represented GSU with such astounding integrity both during and outside the competition."
Ramsey, awarded "Best Oralist" in the final round, said the experience was the thrill of a lifetime.
"Considering how few lawyers ever get to face a Supreme Court Justice in actual practice, it was a very humbling experience to be able to do so as a law student," Ramsey said. "Having Justice Alito announce GSU as the winner of the competition is something the entire Moot Court board and the College of Law should take pride in."
Professor Patrick Wiseman in the College of Law is the faculty advisor for GSU College of Law Moot Court.
